Three Pilbara fitness enthusiasts ran nearly 40km jogging from Karratha to Dampier and back to raise money for the Fire Fighters Appeal.

Brooke Mcintosh, Jenny McConnell-Muscat and Katrina White started their 37.4km trek at 4.30am as part of the Relief Run campaign, which raised more than $1 million to the Australian Red Cross.

Wanting to push themselves, Ms Mcintosh decided to run 18km to Dampier and get a lift back to Karratha, but Ms White thought they might as well just run back.

Ms Mcintosh said they were unprepared for how far the course was but finished in 5hr 1min.

“It was just three girls getting together for a run that turned into something more,” she said.
