Pegs Creek continue to dominate women’s cricket with 92-run win over Dampier Taverners

Pegs Creek’s dominant run in the women’s twenty-over competition continued with a 92-run victory over Dampier Taverners in round 10 of the competition.

Batting first, Pegs plundered Dampier’s bowling at seven runs an over with captain Jessica Creighton hitting an unbeaten half-century (54) while opener Eva Vernon carried her bat with 47 as they ended their innings on 1-142.

With an imposing total, Dampier needed the perfect innings to knock off the Pegs’ powerhouse side.

But three quick wickets ripped out the Taverners’ top order and set the tone for the rest of the innings. Pegs continued to dominate and skittle the home side for just 50 runs.

In the other round 10 game, the Falcons took on rivals Karratha Kats in a hard-hitting clash.

Kats were sent in, with Falcons bowlers dominating the game, restricting Kats’ run rate to a crawl.

With regular wickets falling, Kats limped to the finish line at 5-73.

In reply, Falcons’ Emily Bowden steered her side to victory finishing on 46 from just 43 balls including seven fours.

Falcons easily chased down the total in 13 overs.

After 10 rounds, Pegs remain undefeated with nine wins from 10 games, the only blemish a tie against Karratha Kats.

Meanwhile, Falcons are two games clear in second place with five wins, while Taverners sit third on three wins and Kats in last place with just one win.
