Pirates fall to Krakens, Barracudas in women’s A-grade clashes

Round 16 of the Karratha Water Polo Association season saw the Pirates as the home team with the women’s and men’s A-grade double games.

In the first women’s A-grade match, the Krakens beat the Pirates 12-7.

Krakens’ Simone Fountain and Ebony Hennessy combined to score seven goals and fellow Kraken Hayley Rigby also had a stand-out game, scoring two goals.

Pirates’ Anouska Angove, Belinda Brooks and Jacinta Wright scored two goals each.

The second game of the women’s A-grade match saw the Barracudas beat the Pirates 7-5.

Pirates’ Anouska Angove (one goal) was voted best in the pool, followed closely by Barracudas’ Kate Kalajzich (two goals) and Nikki Hemmett, who had a great game in goals.

In the women’s B-grade match, the blue team accounted for the white team 6-1.

Blue team’s Jade Anderton had a stand-out game, scoring three goals, and was supported by Lucy Lonnie (one goal).

Aleesha Meuleners scored the white team’s solitary goal.

The first game of the men’s A-grade division featured a tight tussle between the Pirates and Krakens, which the Pirates won 8-7.

Krakens’ Charlie Regan top-scored with four goals, followed by Pirates’ Justin Angove, who scored three.

The Pirates also accounted for the Barracudas in the second men’s A-grade game, which they won 7-3.

Justin Angove was the highest scorer of the game with four goals, while Rhys Knight scored two for the Cudas.

Paul Hazelwood also had a great game in goals for the Barracudas.

In the men’s B-grade game, the Barracudas beat the Pirates 7-2.

Cudas’ Cooper Regan (two goals) and Ralph Acker (two goals) controlled the game, while Pirates’ David Clauson and Rob Vanderlinde scored a goal each.
