Racing lovers were back on the track on Sunday as motocross finally returned after a delayed start to round one.

Members of the Karratha Enduro and Motocross Club were excited to be out racing again after round one was delayed by five months because of cyclone Damien, COVID-19 and recent heavy rainfall.

It was a busy turnout for round one with several classes competing.

In 50cc division one, Jensen Walsh was fastest on the track, followed by Karter Freegard and Kyson Murray.

The feature race of the day featured 20 minutes of riding, plus one lap, and was taken out by Archie Freegard with Dion McKenny and Brock Wilkinson behind him.

KEMXC president Dennis Freegard said it was great to see everyone back on the track.

“It feels good after a five-month delay. It feels really good to be out with all the familiar faces and a lot of new ones amongst the crowd,” he said.

“There was a big turnout of junior numbers. Overall, it was a great turnout, great weather and a great day.

“We really want to thank all our sponsors, all our volunteers and everyone who made the day possible and we are looking forward to next round.”
