Strong gusty winds tested the 48 players throughout most of Saturday’s 18-hole Stableford event at the Karratha Golf Course.

Perhaps this was the reason for some very low scores seen, with only eight golfers playing to their handicaps or better.

Coming off a long hiatus, annihilating the competition with a three-shot lead, Tania Wilcox enjoyed four pars in her round, winning the day with a fantastic score of 40 Stableford points.

Second-place win with a score of 37 points went to Supatta Shaw.

Struggling a little on the first few holes she settled in and went on to record six pars for the day.

Losing on the countback to place third with 37 points, Dave Turner, playing off a three handicap, chalked up a birdie and 14 pars for the day, with only three bogies marring an otherwise almost perfect round.

Gross winner with a par round of 72 off the stick was club president Chef Stewart.

With four birdies and 11 pars, a lost ball on four resulting in a double bogie was the only blight in his round.

Best Vet for the day, also scoring 37 points with three pars and birdie, well done to Wayne Hanson.

Best Lady Jenni Peters put in another solid round scoring 36 for the day.

The strong winds eased off for Sunday scroungers.

A great turnout of 42 players competed with 28 of those entering the kitty.

With a score of 23 points, Blaine Cattan took out the outright the win, the $280 kitty, and a $50 voucher from generous sponsor Adventure Sports.

Second place went to mum Tania Wilcox with 22 points, backing up her first place Stableford win yesterday.

Third place went to new player Chef Regan with 21 points, winning on a countback.

The meat raffle shootout draw was 17, with four players competing, won by Ken Wilcocks, who also won the Birdy Blitz $70 shootout yesterday.

Next Saturday the Karratha Golf Club will host a fundraiser, “Move Your Body” for autism.

All players new and old are welcome to join the nine-hole Ambrose event starting from 11.30.
