A Pilbara man who was released on a suspended prison sentence for nearly killing two dogs when he cut their IV lines while breaking into a Karratha veterinary clinic has faced court again after failing to comply with reporting obligations. Christian Flakemore, 27, was handed an eight-month prison sentence in March, to be served as a 12-month conditional suspended term of imprisonment. He was also issued with a 12-month intensive supervision order for two animal cruelty offences and ordered to pay a global fine of $1500. Flakemore appeared in Karratha Magistrate’s Court again last Tuesday after allegedly failing to comply with obligations to report, and will face court again on Tuesday. Flakemore broke into Karratha Vet Hospital on January 7 and stole a radio and a blanket before cutting the IV lines of a beagle and a labrador which was receiving lifesaving kidney failure medication. Flakemore committed the offences while on a community-based order for a burglary last year at Searipple Village, where he stole a charity tin.
