Every dog has its day, but 2020 has been a year of tremendous highs for this famous Pilbara vet. Just weeks after launching his brand new book Red Dog Vet: Pip, the region’s very own Dr Rick Fenny is preparing for a big TV comeback. Dr Fenny and his team are set to return to the small screen early next year with season two of Desert Vet after a successful first season in 2019. Season two features six episodes with a strong Karratha focus, which Dr Fenny hopes will promote the town and encourage more people to visit and live there. “It’s also going to be really good for tourism and for the North West,” he said. “It’s going to go nationally and bring a lot of interstate people to Western Australia. “I reckon people will be encouraged to come here.” While the show is not due to air on TV until next year, lucky Karratha locals watched an episode last Wednesday at the North West Brewing Co. The episode featured frightening pet emergencies that unfolded during cyclone Damien as well as a camel adventure where a woman treks from Shark Bay to Byron Bay. “The good news is that Channel 9 liked it so much they decided they would delay screening it until the most opportune time which is probably going to be January now,” Dr Fenny said.
