Beauty Day takes enrolments
The already stunning town of Newman is set to get a little more pretty, with Newman Youth Centre holding a Beauty Day course for youngsters.
The two-day workshop for girls and boys will host a qualified beauty therapist and a consultant from The Beauty Shop, who will teach pupils about skincare and make-up application.
Shire of East Pilbara president Lynne Craigie said she was excited to see more female-centric activities in the town, though she said young boys could also be involved in the event.
“We feel by offering the Beauty Day workshops we will be offering something that many of the young females in our community will really enjoy during the school holidays,” she said.
“If any young males from our community showed a genuine interest in participating, we would definitely look at including them.
“After all, there are many men work in the beauty and fashion industries around the world.”
Ms Craigie said the centre had had a great response and she hoped to see a positive impact from the workshops.
“Apart from the fun, for the girls who are beginning to show an interest in wearing make-up, their personal confidence will be enormously boosted,” she said.
“Perhaps the next big name in make-up artistry might have got their start in Newman.”
The centre said the positive feedback meant the likelihood of regular Beauty Day workshops in the future was on the cards.
