Councillors picked for panels

Taylar AmoniniNorth West Telegraph

Two councillors have been nominated to represent the Town of Port Hedland on the Development Assessment Panels over the next two years.

Mayor Camilo Blanco and Councillor Julie Arif were re-elected as the local DAP representatives at last week’s council meeting and will have the responsibility of determining development applications along with other representatives. Development Assessment Panels form a key component of planning reform in Western Australia and are intended to act as a responsible authority under relevant planning instruments such as local planning schemes.

Mr Blanco and Ms Arif will stay in their nominated roles for two years provided they stay on council. Should either lose their standing in council during elections later this year, further nominations will be held.
