Living on a station in the middle of the outback, Matt Goyder could be excused for spending more time chatting to cattle than eligible females.

But all that could change if the 25-year-old helicopter pilot, who is currently on the short list for this year’s season of the popular television show Farmer Wants a Wife, is chosen as one of the final six blokes.

By Monday, Farmer Matty’s video on the Farmer Wants a Wife Facebook page had been viewed more than 10,000 times.

Currently in the middle of mustering, Mr Goyder said all those views hadn’t translated into too much attention on the farm.

“I can’t say I have been re8cognised by anybody around; then again I haven’t left the property for some time,” he said at the weekend.

“I generally like to keep a pretty low profile but I guess that’s out the door here.”

For years Mr Goyder has ignored his friends and colleagues who have pestered him to sign up for the show, which has resulted in nine marriages, nine babies and three long-term relationships.

But hitting the ripe age of 25 recently, he said he felt the time was right to apply, adding he feels lucky to have made the short list.

“Now I’ve turned 25, it’s time to take searching for a life partner a bit more seriously. It’s not easy meeting people out here or finding people that love this lifestyle as much as I do.” [|]

The boy from the bush was expecting a fair ribbing from his mates, but so far Mr Goyder said his friends had been supportive of his quest for love.

Jokingly, he added he was pretty sure he was about to be adopted out by his family.

“My sister is very supportive from over in the United States and understandably my mum is concerned for me,” he said. “It is a very busy time of the year for us during the mustering season so I can’t divert all of my attention away from my livelihood.”

“But at this stage I’m pretty excited to be a part of the experience and I have my fingers crossed,” he said. [|]
