Newman Senior High School students have been evacuated as fire fighters battle a blaze racing through the school.

The alarm was raised about 2pm.

The fire is thought to have been started by an electrical fault.

All students have been evacuated and there are no reported injuries but pictures show the extent of the fire.

The Department of Education has advised the school will be closed tomorrow, due to substantial fire damage.

Parents are requested not to call the school while staff are dealing with the incident and should instead contact the Pilbara Regional Education Office on 9185 0111.
