Nerf nerds terrify shop worker: police

Alex MasseyNorth West Telegraph

Four men who allegedly fired toy guns at a terrified Port Hedland bottle shop attendant will face court on common assault charges.

The quartet allegedly used the Nerf guns, which shoot foam darts or discs, at the Ibis Port Hedland drive-through liquor store on January 24.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Port Hedland police Sergeant Jason Gentili said it appeared the alleged crime was a “prank gone wrong” and had left the bottle shop employee shaken.

He said one of the men had handed himself in on Friday and charges were laid on Monday.

A court date has not been set.

In 2011, two men were sentenced to nine-month conditional release orders and granted spent convictions after they painted Nerf guns black and pointed them at motorists on Roe Highway.
