Remote community on alert as firefighters tackle blaze

A bushfire advice has been issued for people in and near the remote community of Jinparinya in Pippingarra.

The fire, which started near the Great Northern Highway in Pippingarra, does not yet posed a threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area.

Four Town of Port Hedland firefighters are attending the scene and monitoring the situation.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advices people to stay alert and monitor their surroundings as the fire is 5km from the Jinparinya remote community.

No roads have been closed but motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce their speed and drive carefully due to the smoke.
