Shooters play in challenging conditions

Hedland Sporting Shooters Club held its fourth Metallic Silhouette event for 2016 on Sunday, May 15.

The weather was reasonably cool with gusty winds when competition started for the day which includes Rimfire and Centrefire disciplines.

The first event was Rimfire Silhouette where competitors are required to hit 20 1/5 scale metallic shapes at various ranges up to 100m.

Once again, Chris Lefroy showed the way to take out first place with a score of 13.

Cortlan Bennett closely followed on 12 to take out second place and at third place was Cairn Green on 11 points.

The second event of the morning was the Centrefire discipline, where competitors brought out the “big guns” preparing for targets all the way out to 500m.

In testing conditions, Philip Murray impressed by taking out first place with a score of eight, closely followed by Nesbit Anderson on seven points and on third place was Ron Wynn on six points.
