Throughput figures drop 1pc in Port Hedland
Pilbara Ports Authority throughput figures from last month have shown a one per cent decrease from the same month last year.
PPA delivered a monthly throughput of 50.7 million tonnes for the month of February, despite bad weather halting shipping operations at Dampier and Port Hedland for 23 hours, 27 hours, and 30 minutes respectively due to weather conditions.
The Port of Port Hedland, throughput figures also decreased 3 per cent from the same period last year, achieving a monthly throughput of 36Mt.
Iron ore exports decreased 3 per cent, totalling 35.6Mt.
Imports have increased 27 per cent, with a total of 135,000 tonnes.
The Port of Dampier received a slight increase, delivering a total monthly throughput of 14.7Mt, a 3 per cent increase on the previous year. Imports dropped 13 per cent from the previous year.
PPA throughput figures for the month of January showed a 12 per cent increase this year, delivering a monthly throughput of 52.3 million tonnes.
