A crash involving two road trains on Great Northern Highway last night has taken the life of one man and injured another.

The crash occurred at 6pm when two road trains travelling in opposite directions collided on the highway 94km north of Meekatharra.

“The driver of the southbound vehicle died at the scene,” a WA police spokeswoman said.

“The driver of the northbound truck, a man in his 40s, received minor injuries.”

The trailers on both vehicles were empty.

Police are attending the crash site this morning to conduct inquiries into its cause.
