Bentley crash: Man fights for life after early-morning crash amid multiple Easter weekend fatalities

Two men are in hospital following an early-morning crash that left one of them fighting for life amid a horror Easter weekend on the roads.

The 34-year-old passenger is in a critical condition in Royal Perth Hospital after the driver of a red Ford Falcon lost control and struck a tree on Hayman Road in Bentley about 12.20am this morning.

The 45-year-old driver is in a serious condition.

A section of Hayman Road is closed and crash investigators are on the scene.

Images of the scene showed investigators’ coloured cones indicating the path of the vehicle before it hit the tree.

It’s the latest in a string of shocking Easter long weekend crashes.

Three deaths have occurred in WA over the long weekend in separate crashes, including a 14-year-old dirt bike rider.

WA Police slammed dangerous driving and revealed shocking examples of driver misbehaviour.

“While we recognise the profound loss being experienced this weekend, we are also very clear about our expectations of drivers,” Commander Mike Peters said.

“Speeding, drink and drug driving, distraction and failure to wear seatbelts are well known risks, and they continue to cost lives.

“Every decision made behind the wheel matters. Those decisions determine whether you arrive home safely or whether police are left delivering devastating news to a family. That responsibility must be taken seriously by every driver.”

Double demerits remain in place until 11:59pm tonight.
