Department of Health reveals new measles exposure sites in Treendale, Bunbury, Donnybrook and Cowaramup

The Department of Health has named several new measles exposures sites in the South West around Treendale, Bunbury, Donnybrook and Cowaramup. Treendale’s shopping centre has been listed as a potential exposure sight on Sunday November 2, from 12.45pm- 2pm, with Bakers Delight, Woolworths and Red Dot all identified as exposure sights. Treendale Tyrepower has also been identified as a hotspot on October 30 from 10am-11.30am. Bonnie’s Op Shop in Bunbury is a new exposure site on October 27 from 2.30pm-3.15pm, along with Salvos Bunbury from 2pm-2.45pm the same day. The Donnybrook Post Office and Donnybrook IGA on October 28 are also listed between 10.15am and 11.15am, as is the Cowaramup Newsagency and Post Office on October 31 from 10am-11.30am. Three new case have been identified in Albany and Denmark this month also: Boston Brewery on November 2 from 4.30pm-6.30pm; Bodycare Physiotherapy’s pool area on November 3 from 3.50pm-4.45pm; and the Albany Health Campus from 4.30pm on November 3 to 11.30am on November 4. This year there have been 54 cases of measles identified in WA, with the disease last detected in the South West in May this year. The Department of Health’s website says measles typically develops around 10 days after being exposed to the virus, but it can vary from seven to 18 days. The department said anyone who had visited the exposure locations should be vigilant for symptoms of measles, and seek medical advice if symptoms occur.
