Ecoburbia experts to host next sessions in City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s waste education workshop series

Free workshops aimed at reducing waste and promoting household composting and recycling in the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will continue throughout August. The city this week announced the latest sessions in the “highly popular” waste education workshop series would be led by sustainable living experts Shani Graham and Tim Darby from Ecoburbia. The experts will provide practical strategies for effective household waste management and recycling on August 15 and 17. Topics such as worm farming, composting, water collection and reuse and preserving produce will be covered. In addition to the workshops, the experts will host a special children’s storytime at William Grundt Memorial Library on August 17. They will read their book, Lady Marmalade, which tells the adventures of a cheeky, curious and hungry country goat in the city. Mayor Glenn Wilson said he was pleased to see the community support the workshops and the positive impact the practices were having in homes across the city. “Whether you want to learn a few tips to reduce household organic and water waste or you’re interested in setting up a composting or irrigation system at home, these workshops will benefit all participants interested in adopting sustainable living practices,” he said. “I encourage you to attend, whether you’re a seasoned gardener looking to improve your composting techniques or a beginner eager to learn about waste reduction, these workshops offer something for everyone.” Residents who attend a workshop are eligible to receive a $50 rebate towards the cost of a composting unit.
