Star Wars fans are expected to gather in force from a galaxy far, far away and around Port Hedland this week for the first screenings of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

It’s the film’s first appearance in town at the Matt Dann Theatre, with 7.30pm screenings on Friday and Saturday. The film has drawn widespread attention in Perth with sold-out screenings, costumed movie-goers and more than 2000 people watching the film at Event Cinemas Innaloo on its release on December 14.

Star Wars enthusiast and resident shadow trooper Adam Clews, who has seen the movie in Broome, said the Star Wars movies were a multi-generational experience across Australia.

“My mum and dad took me to see Star Wars and now I take my kids to see the movies — there will be generations of Star Wars fans,” he said.
