Committee members and players gathered to decide the fate of the Hedland Hockey Club season last week.

No detail was left unchecked as attendees decided on the key season details last Thursday night, including fees, events and match days.

This year’s club president, Grit Andre, who opened the meeting, said there was a good turnout to continue the success from the previous year.

“It was good, good to see every-body and a few new faces — 12 present shows that there’s still a lot of interest in hockey,” she said.

“Mostly, we were looking at when we will start up, details for the juniors and seniors as well as pricing and planning the season — briefly on how we will run the events.”

Details were tentatively set for the club’s first event, Have A Try Night, an introductory night with games and hockey packs for local players on March 9 while a unanimous ruling for a “No Mouth Guard No Play” rule was passed.

Members agreed online polls would be needed to determine appropriate times for the season’s Hook in 2 Hockey and Juniors Saturday game times.

Suggestions were put forward for an early-bird fee structure to allow senior players and parents to register their children’s interest earlier than the previous year, while a new registration process is expected to use the online Sports TG platform with minimal paper forms.

The next meeting is scheduled at 5pm on March 8, at Dome Cafe.
