Month-long program of exhibitions, tours and special events shine light on city’s heritage
Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s heritage will be firmly in the spotlight during a month-long program of exhibitions, tours and special events starting mid-April.
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will mark the 2026 Australian Heritage Festival this year by hosting a program of events that celebrate the stories, people and places that have shaped the region.
Running from April 18 to May 18, the festival invites residents and visitors of all ages to explore Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s heritage through a diverse mix of free and ticketed events.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said the festival was an important opportunity to celebrate and share the history of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
“For 14 years, Kalgoorlie-Boulder has proudly taken part in the Australian Heritage Festival, showcasing the places, people and stories that have helped define our community,” he said.
“The strength of the program comes from the collaboration behind it, and I thank our local cultural organisations, historical groups and community partners for the work, care and expertise they bring each year.
“I encourage residents and visitors alike to explore the program and take the opportunity to connect with the rich and diverse history of the Goldfields.”
Program highlights include the Anzac 110th Anniversary Special Exhibition, Making Home Under Southern Skies: Two Centuries of Chinese Heritage in Western Australia, the Our Stories Exhibition, the Pitman and Walsh Exhibition, and the Stories of Change Project.
A range of guided experiences will also offer unique insights into the region’s past, including the Boulder Historic Sites Walking Tour, Kalgoorlie and Boulder Town Hall Tours, In Paddy’s Footsteps: Walking Tour of Hannan Street, and the popular dark history tours exploring Boulder and Kalgoorlie’s lesser-known stories.
