A new venue and a more entertainment-focused program is being planned for this year’s Uniquely You Ball, an exclusive event for people with disabilities and their carers.

Organisers are seeking more sponsorship for the October ball, which will take place at Evolution Mining Stadium for the first time, providing a safe and inclusive night of dancing and glamour for 200 guests.

Co-organisers Sarsha Lander and Gina Price said they were hoping to secure additional sponsorship to help cover entertainment and decoration costs but were thankful for the 10 sponsors who had already come on board to support it.

Feedback from last year’s event has seen organisers pivot away from a guest speaker and focus more on entertainment to keep everyone dancing the night away, but the rest will remain the same.

“It’s about providing an event where they can trust that it is catered for them and everything has been planned accordingly,” Ms Lander said.

“Accessibility isn’t just an afterthought, all of the things — sensory spaces, social stories, modified meals — it’s all being done to ensure everyone can enjoy a really inclusive event.”

The third annual Uniquely You Ball will take place on October 24.
