Port Hedland’s Esplanade Hotel will move to new management after the owners signed an agreement to sell the business to BHP.

Staff were informed last week that it would be business as usual at the iconic West End centrepiece but they would need to be interviewed for their present positions by incoming operator, Compass Group, after the deal reaches settlement.

The previous owners will no longer be involved when Compass, a British food service property management company, takes over operation of the hotel and manages the transition of ownership to BHP.

The hotel has remained in the heart of Port Hedland for more than 100 years and staff have been told BHP wants to ensure it can continue to be an asset to the community.
