Meghan’s friend Omid Scobie declared that ‘no one cried’, casting further confusion over the incident

As the fallout from Oprah’s royal interview continues, another Meghan Markle claim has been called into question. During the now legendary Oprah Winfrey interview, Meghan Markle sensationally claimed that it was Kate Middleton who made her cry over their bridesmaid dress row, not the other way round as has been widely reported. But Meghan’s friend Omid Scobie stridently claimed in his biography that “no one cried”, casting further confusion over the incident. The claim has left the world wondering what exactly did happen. The Sun reports that in Finding Freedom, Omid stated: “There were no tears from anyone.” Six months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ 2018 wedding, reports emerged that there had been an incident between Kate and Meghan over a fitting for the bridesmaid dresses. Princess Charlotte had been chosen to be among Meghan’s six bridesmaids for her nuptials. The Duchess of Sussex claimed in her Oprah Winfrey interview she was the one who ended up crying, asserting Kate had been “upset about something” over the flower girl dresses in the lead up to her nuptials with Prince Harry. And while Meghan said she had forgiven Kate, The Times said the actor, 39, slammed the door in her sister-in-law’s face when she took flowers to Nottingham Cottage, where the Sussexes were living at the time. In the gobsmacking interview with Winfrey, Oprah, Meghan said: “There wasn’t a confrontation and I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologised, and I have forgiven her. “What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn’t do, but that happened to me.” It has been reported in the past that in the lead up to the wedding, “Meghan left Kate in tears” over her demands for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaids dress during a “stressful” fitting. Then there was another claim that the row began when Kate said the bridesmaids should follow royal protocol by wearing tights which Meghan was not happy about. Meghan and Kate’s relationship soured, a source claimed to the The Telegraph, after Princess Charlotte‘s bridesmaid dress didn’t fit, which meant they had to schedule more fittings ahead of the big day. Meghan said that Kate was a “good person” during her chat with Winfrey. However, she said she had struggled after reports of the incident emerged a few months after the wedding, saying it had been a “turning point”. Meghan told Winfrey that “nothing is what it looks like” as she made a string of explosive allegations about her life in the Royal family.
