More than 4000 homes across WA are still without power after Tuesday’s ferocious storm ripped up trees and roofs.

Western Power said its crews worked through Wednesday night to restore power to more than 51,000 homes left in the dark by the storm which unleashed winds of up to 128km/h.

Crews are now focused on reconnecting the remaining 4000 properties still without power.

At the peak of the storm, 55,000 homes were without power due to network damage from fallen trees and debris.

On Wednesday, 50 Western Power reconnection and repair crews were working on hazard and repair work.

In the metropolitan area currently, there are approximately 1500 homes affected by outages spread across more than 30 suburbs.

In the South-West there are 2,500 customers needing power restored across more than 50 towns clustered mainly around Margaret River, Vass, Busselton, and Bunbury.

“With the large geographical area to cover in the regional recovery, we have mobilized teams from surrounding depots to assist with this effort once again today,” Western Power said.

Perth and the South-West can still expect some showers today and Friday but the strong winds seen on Tuesday night are not expected to re-appear.
