Australia Day 2022: Where to celebrate in the Shire of Harvey
A smorgasbord of Australia Day breakfast celebrations will take place across the Harvey and Waroona shires this year, even if residents will now be forced to wear masks for both indoor and outdoor events.
Those interested in celebrating on January 26 will not be short on choice, with events spreading from Australind to Waroona and everywhere in between.
Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre’s breakfast will begin with a classic Australian breakfast from 7am, then citizenship swear-ins and awards as well as local entertainers and face painting to close out the morning at 9am.
Waroona residents will also have an awards ceremony, followed by live music, entertainers, a street parade and petting zoo from 7.30-11am at the Waroona Memorial Hall.
Brunswick, Binningup and Australind residents will not go hungry either with breakfasts starting at 7am at Brunswick’s Tom Pearson Pavilion, 7.30am at Ridley Place Foreshore in Australind and 8am at the Binningup Country Club.
Shire of Harvey president Paul Gillett said Australia Day was an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate being an Australian citizen.
“Community members are invited to come together to celebrate Australia Day, all of our new citizens and the Australia Day Citizen Awards presentations while enjoying breakfast,” he said.
