Thousands of revellers descended on Bunbury’s Bicentennial Square on Wednesday for the City’s first Australia Day Skyfest celebrations in two years.

The fireworks display, which Bunbury mayor Jaysen Miguel said was unrivalled in regional WA, was cancelled last year.

Some residents keen to catch the best view were in position for hours before the display began, while others wandered through the Bicentennial Square precinct playing games, eating at the many food trucks or watching movies on the giant screen at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell.

The inaugural South West Strongman event was also held as part of the day’s festivities.
