For the first time in its 15 year history, CinefestOZ will have a screening location in Vasse.

As part of it’s opening weekend, three Australian films are set to be screened at The Vantage at Vasse Over-50s lifestyle Resort on August 27 and 28.

Films on offer over the weekend include The Naked Wanderer at 11am and The Song Keepers at 1pm on Saturday 27 August, and The Pinkies are Back at 11am on Sunday 28 August.

In addition to the screenings, the village will also be open to the community, allowing them an opportunity to step inside, mingle with the locals and celebrate both The Vantage at Vasse over 50s lifestyle community and Australian cinema.

Serenitas chief executive officer Rob Nichols described the village’s “first-class cinema” as the “perfect venue” for Cinefest films.

“The Vantage at Vasse has been designed to create socialising opportunities for our homeowners, either through organised activities or serendipitous encounters,” he said.

“The key to our community’s wellbeing is ensuring these engagement opportunities are possible by providing facilities that are welcoming, warm and useable. “

CinefestOZ Film Festival Chair Margaret Buswell said she is excited to introduce another “big screen” to the festival line-up.

“Over the last two years we have all been forced to absorb much of our regular film diet on small screens: phones, tablets and TVs,” she said.

“But it’s the community aspect of the big-screen experience that exhilarates and captivates us most, and there has never been a better time to watch Australian stories in a cinema together.“

The Vantage Vasse will be open from 10am-5pm over the open weekend with a free community sausage sizzle, wine tastings, grazing boards, film screenings and a performance from Busselton Brass Band on offer.
