The Yarloop Car Show may have rolled out of town earlier this month, but the legacy it has left behind remains in town with more than $2000 raised for the Waroona Volunteer Fire Brigade.

The March 10 event was a resounding success with classic cars, motorycles and old military trucks revving their engines through the tiny town.

The event saw streets packed with hot rods stretching around the Yarloop Bowls Club all in an effort to raise money for the Waroona Volunteer Fire Brigade.

More than $2200 was raised for the brigade’s station, which Shire of Waroona fire chief Steve Thomas said he was over the moon to have received.

“One of the hardest things for volunteer fire brigades is purchasing things that aren’t on our regular list,” he said.

“So, this donation helps us immensely.”

Thanks to the funds raised, the brigade will buy new adaptors for its hoses to attach to watercarts.

Mr Thomas said there had been instances when a water truck had arrived, but without the correct adaptor, they have had no choice but to send them away.

He said he planned to buy every type of adaptor needed so they never find themselves in that situation again.

Yarloop Car Show organiser Sue Manuel said she was thrilled to be able to support such a valuable institution.

She thanked the generosity of everyone who attended and helped raise money and was excited to keep the ball rolling for next year.

Mr Thomas said he thoroughly enjoyed this year’s car show, saying the turnout was enormous.
