Summer in Bunbury is shaping up to be exciting with an impressive line-up of events on the horizon, thanks to the Bunbury City Council’s latest grant funding program.

The 2020-21 City of Bunbury Grant Funding program attracted a large volume of applicants across all categories, demonstrating community confidence in moving forward with events and activities beyond COVID-19.

This summer will see more than 40 events return to the streets of Bunbury.

Headlining the jam-packed list of events is the “CBD Summer Event, Park Life Jazz, Reggae and Ibiza” which was selected for the one-off $15,000 grant.

Popular returning events like Bunbury Fringe 2021, Bunbury’s Street Pole Vault, Groovin the Moo and Bunbury Show 2021 were also successful in receiving grants.

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the latest grant funding recipients symbolised an exciting step forward for the city.

“The city is proud to yet again support a selection of exciting events and initiatives for our community to enjoy,” Mr Brennan said. “These events are important in giving our residents and visitors something to look forward to, but also in providing our wonderful city the social and economic boost that is needed more than ever.”

The program was bolstered by an extra $90,0000 for a new Capacity and Resilience Grants round which is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than $480,000 was available across the four categories which included the CBD Summer Event, Events, Community and Arts.

The Seniors Information and Activity Day, Tree Street Art Safari, Bunbury Summer School 2021 and Pridefest South West were also successful applicants.
