A recent donation from a local company will help volunteers at the Bunbury Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service get out to jobs more efficiently.

Up until a few weeks ago, volunteers at the community organisation had to cram themselves into a room to put their gear on before heading out to a job.

Thanks to a $3500 donation from The Apprentice and Traineeship Company, the volunteers now have ease of access to their equipment and protective gear and are able to improve their turnout time.

“We were approached not that long ago to see if we were interested in supporting Bunbury VFRS to purchase some new racking,” ATC CEO Stan Liaros said.

“We get involved in a lot of community events but this struck me as a good opportunity to support something that is really important, not just to me, but to the whole Bunbury community.

“It was something they really needed and I hope it helps them in the long run.”

Volunteer Dan Joslin said the new racking had helped the brigade immensely.

“Before the racking, volunteers had to fit into a small room to get their gear, now we have quicker access to the vehicles and our turn out times have improved,” he said.

“The girls are on one side and the guys are on the other, so we can chuck on our gear and jump on the truck which makes it so much easier and quicker.”
