Surrounded by nine grandchildren of his own, Tony Galati is particularly passionate about supporting causes that are all about the kids.

This year, he is bringing back Spudathon for Telethon to raise funds for WA’s long-running charity.

Hoping to top last year’s impressive $100,000 donation, Spudshed has extended the promotion in 2020 to give customers more time to donate.

The supermarket chain launched Spudathon last Wednesday, giving away a free 1kg bag of its infamous spuds to anyone who donates to Telethon in store.

The promotion will end on Sunday, with the free freshly-picked spuds available at all 15 Spudshed stores — with most stores open 24 hours to make donating to Telethon even easier.

The family man encourages everyone to join Spudshed and donate during Spudathon and is hoping it will translate into a significant donation to Telethon.

“Free Spuds for helping sick kids — now that’s a good deal,” he says.

Galati has often offered free spuds as a way to highlight his passion for offering families in WA affordable fresh produce. The independent supermarket chain is also very much committed to supporting organisations and charities that work within the community, and none more so than Telethon.

Galati has made no secret of his dedication to his own kids and grandkids, previously admitting that being surrounded by family makes his 3am starts that little bit easier.
