The $10 million redevelopment of Halls Creek District High School promised in the State election campaign is a step closer, after Education Minister Sue Ellery announced the appointment of an architectural company to design the project last week.

Perth-based company MPS Architects will lead the design work for the new facilities, which will include a new general teaching block, additions to the administration building and the refurbishment of the existing food and textiles studio.

An old existing classroom block will also be removed as part of the upgrade.

Ms Ellery said the project team would soon meet with the school to undertake a site investigation, officially starting the design phase of the redevelopment.

She said once completed, students and staff would be able to enjoy modern classroom facilities.

“Refurbishments and additions to the school will provide students with welcoming classroom spaces to inspire their learning,” she said.
