VideoA bus caught fire on the Kwinana Freeway in Baldivis on Monday morning

UPDATE: Kwinana Freeway has reopened after a bus fire caused massive traffic delays for commuters on Monday morning.

The Mandurah Bus Charters vehicle burst into flames on the freeway in Baldivis shortly before 7am.

All northbound lanes to Mundijong Road were closed from 7.30am but a single lane has now reopened.

Baldivis resident Damian Parker saw the bus engulfed in flames as he drove past.

“My first reaction was ‘poor bloke’,” he said.

“What a way to start your Monday morning!”

A picture posted on Facebook shows the blaze began at the back of the bus.

The fire was extinguished and the bus towed away at about 8.30am.

Police said the only person on the bus was the driver, who escaped uninjured.
