An elderly pedestrian has been seriously injured after a car veered off the road at an intersection, slamming into him in Perth’s north on Tuesday night.

The incident happened about 6.45pm at the intersection of Chittering Road and Maroubra Avenue in Bullsbrook.

Police said a Holden Statesman sedan driven by an 18-year-old man was turning the corner when it hit the man.

He suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance.

It is understood the driver of the Statesman was not injured and is assisting police with enquiries.
