A 12-year-old boy has died after an all-terrain vehicle rolled at a property in regional NSW.

The ATV was being driven by another boy, aged 15, in West Wyalong on Saturday evening when it lost control and flipped, police were told.

The 12-year-old boy was trapped underneath the vehicle before witnesses freed him and treated him until paramedics arrived.

He was taken to West Wyalong Hospital but he died on arrival.

Police established a crime scene and will continue to investigate the crash, while a report will be prepared for the coroner.
