Detectives charge 64-year-old former teacher with sex offences over alleged relationship with student in Perth

A former high school teacher has been charged with historical sex offences after he allegedly had a relationship with a student in the 1990s. Detectives from the sex assault squad charged the 64-year-old man with three offences over alleged incidents from 1992 and 1993 in the Perth metropolitan area. Investigators allege the man was a high school teacher at a school in the area when he had a “sexual relationship with a female student”. He is facing one count of indecently dealing with a child over 16 under his authority and two counts of sexually penetrating a child over 16 years under his care. It is understood the man was working at a public school at the time of the alleged offending. The man, of Spencer Park in Albany, is due to face Albany Magistrates Court today.
