A man has escaped a potentially serious crocodile attack in the State’s far north after a quick-thinking friend pulled him to safety, leaving him with just a scratch on his leg.

Samuel Birch was retrieving a fishing net at a waterway near Wyndham yesterday when the saltwater croc lunged at him.

“People are encouraged not to risk their lives by entering the water of an established saltwater crocodile habitat,” the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions said.
