FuelWatch: West Aussies breathe a sigh of relief as prices fall ahead of the Easter long weekend

West Aussie motorists preparing to fill up ahead of the Easter long weekend can breathe a sigh of relief as fuel prices are set to go down on Thursday.
The reprieve in price hikes comes at a perfect time as punters across the State gear up to head south or north and take full advantage of the Good Friday public holiday.
Despite the brief pause in escalating prices, the bowser is still set to put a dent in West Aussie wallets, with petrol prices well above $2 a litre.
However, Vibe will sell unleaded petrol under the dreaded $2 mark at their Ascot, Beechboro and Oakford stops.
The chain will be the cheapest across the State, selling unleaded at an average of $2.189, down from Wednesday’s average of $2.397.
While the state average for unleaded petrol will be down $0.136 from Wednesday, sitting at $2.31.
Motorists looking to make every cent count should steer clear of 7-Eleven which is putting out the highest average tomorrow at $2.499.
Outside the metro area will follow suit in the price relief, with every region trending in the downward direction for unleaded petrol prices.
Diesel drivers see prices edge slightly down to $3.025 from Wednesday’s $3.091, but will find some relief at Vibe Ascot and Piara Waters the their bowsers charging $2.897 a litre on Thursday.
It comes as the Federal Government introduced $0.26 cuts to fuel excise on Wednesday, in hopes prices will start to drop from the ludicrous numbers seen in recent weeks.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese addressed the country on Wednesday, urging Aussies to ‘do their part’ as the fuel crisis cripples the nation.
“Australia’s not an active participant in this war but all Australians are paying higher prices because of it. I know that you’re seeing this at the servo and at the supermarket and I understand farmers and truckies, small businesses and families are doing it tough,” he said.
“We are working to bring the price of fuel down, to make more fuel here and to keep it on shore, and get more fuel here using our strong trading relationships with our region to bring more petrol, diesel and fertiliser to Australia.”
