Joshua Hair: Karijini crash victim’s sister Jasmine Honey says family ‘shaken to the core’ over tragic death

The sister of a 19-year-old man who died in a car rollover in Karijini last week has revealed her family has been “shaken to the core” by his death. Volunteer firefighter Josh Hair died after a Toyota HiLux utility he was a passenger in rolled on Karijini Drive, 40km west of Great Northern Highway, early last Sunday morning. His eldest sister Jasmine Honey said the pair’s brother Jacob and Josh’s girlfriend were still recovering from the injuries they suffered in the crash, which happened just an hour from their home. “My other brother Jacob and Josh partner are recovering in hospital and we are left with a hole that cannot be filled,” she said. “As you all can expect this was definitely unexpected and has shaken us to our very core.” Jasmine said Josh, who was a volunteer firefighter with the Tom Price brigade, was a “goofy guy” who was “committed to helping people in need”. “Josh was a dedicated and hard working man and enjoyed life to the fullest,” she said. “He always had such a free spirit and never stressed the big things in life. He was always going with the flow. Josh has touched so many lives with just his presence although he wasn’t earth side for long he still made a great impact on those around him. “He will definitely be forever missed and always loved. I hope everyone can continue to carry on his legacy and remember Josh for the happy man he was with a giant smile.” Jasmine has started a Gofundme page on behalf of her family to give Josh the “send off he deserves”. “You will forever be in our hearts and forever be missed,” she wrote. “We will carry all the memories, photos and videos of you with us and carry your legacy to the end of our days. “Fly high Josh and may you forever be dancing in the stars above and watching us from above and being our guardian angel.” The tragic crash was one of five fatal crashes that happened over the Father’s Day weekend. WA’s road toll for the year is more than 100, with 50 of those losing their lives on regional roads. WA recorded its highest road toll in six years in 2022, with 175 deaths.
