Man treated for smoke inhalation as crews battle house fire in Maddington

An investigation is underway following a house fire that broke out east of Perth in the early hours of Thursday that left an occupant needing medical treatment for smoke inhalation.

Police and fire crews raced to Parakeela Grove in Maddington where the blaze erupted just after 1am.

Angry plumes of smoke surged from the home, as fire crews worked to extinguish the fire.

DFES says six crews of career firefighters from Maddington and Welshpool attended the blaze.

They contained the fire by 1.39am.

The house was left with extensive fire damage and the cause is under investigation.

A man was understood to have been taken to hospital for treatment.
