Members work around clock to get track ready
Hedand BMX Club is set to host the first round of the North West Super Series this Saturday.
The annual event involves Karratha, Tom Price and Newman clubs competing for the Super Series crown.
The club is expecting more than 150 riders to compete.
The club has had some bad luck with the premises getting broken into last Wednesday and its newly purchased timing equipment, MyLaps, stolen along with some PA equipment and handheld radios.
McDonald's South Hedland licensee Luke Jessop has generously promised a $1000 reward for the return of the timing equipment.
Next the heavens opened up and destroyed the club's newly repaired track, which is devastating just one week before the event.
Members are desperately working on the track this week to get it ready for this weekend's racing, some even taking annual leave to help out.
Racing will start this Saturday at 1pm.
Canteen facilities will be open to serve the hungry crowd while they watch the exhilarating racing.
The next round will be at Karratha on June 13, followed by Newman on July 25 and the finals to be hosted at Tom Price on September 12.
