If the lawn needs mowing, do it now, because rain is headed to Perth for at least a week.

After glorious sunny winter days over the long weekend, the metro area is set to be battered by three cold fronts.

“Well it’s a beautiful day today, and there will be a nice start to tomorrow but a cold front will approach in the evening,” Bureau of Meteorology Duty Forecaster Catherine Schelfhout said.

“It’s set to bring showers and possible thunderstorms for most of the west coast, from Exmouth to the south coast.”

And right behind that front, is another one set to bring up to 30 millimetres of rain on Friday.

“The front will last until Thursday, but then another one will move through on Thursday night bringing heavy showers,” Ms Schelfhout said.

“There will be showers pretty much all week. They will ease off on Saturday, but on Sunday another cold front will move in… it’s raining for the foreseeable future.”

Perth can expect up to 20 millimetres of rain on Sunday.

In a silver lining, because of the cloud cover, overnight temperatures will be slightly warmer after a couple of 3C mornings earlier in the week.

There are currently no severe weather warnings for WA.
