The West Live: Town of Port Hedland Commissioner Fred Riebeling gives update on virus ship
The Town of Port Hedland Commissioner Fred Riebeling joins The West Live this morning to give an update on the virus-riddled ship moored off the Pilbara town’s coast, and what measures are being taken to avoid anything like Melbourne happening in WA.
In an effort to try and prevent any spread into the community, Port Hedland has been turned into a fortress, with infected crew members quarantined in a hotel and a fence erected around the quarantine zone.
Seven of the nine crew members aboard the Patricia Oldendorff bulk manganese carrier have tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile AMA WA President Andrew Miller will break down what this means for WA, and regular guests 7NEWS’ Mark Readings, Ben O’Shea and Sunrise’s Elle Georgiou will be on deck.
