WA Treasurer Ben Wyatt will join The West Live this morning to discuss how the State defied the global economic gloom with a $1.2 billion surplus this financial year.

Driven by a resurgent iron ore price, Mr Wyatt's fourth budget which was delivered on Thursday aimed to create jobs and safeguard the economy against COVID-19.

Under the McGowan Government's 2020-21 State Budget, Mr Wyatt promised a debt-fuelled record $27 billion infrastructure spend and an additional 800 police officers over the next four years.

There was also $300 million announced for mental health and a previously-announced $600 credit towards every WA household's power bills.
