Areas of Perth have been drenched by more than 10mm of rain since midnight as a wet morning sweeps across the metropolitan area.

Jandakot has recorded 11mm since midnight, the heaviest fall in the latest observations, while Perth Airport has copped 8.8mm.

Perth and Millendon in the Swan Valley have both recorded 8.4mm, with Bickley receiving 7mm.

Further falls have been recorded at Gingin Airport, which has had 5.6mm, while Garden Island and Swanbourne have each recorded 5mm.

Rottnest Island has recorded 4.6mm as the wet weather spreads across the metropolitan area, with strong winds also making for a miserable start to the day.

But it is not just rain making headlines, if the Bureau of Meteorology is to be believed.

Gingin Airport plunged to a bitterly cold -5.2C overnight, according to the latest WA observations on the BoM website, where a suspected hitch may have occurred.

The wet conditions are expected to ease, with Thursday forecast to bring partly cloudy skies and only a slight chance of an early morning shower.

The overnight minimum is expected to fall to 11C before a maximum of 21C.

Friday will be sunny with a beautiful 24C, with the weekend a glorious 23C on Saturday and 22C on Sunday.
