VideoThe city has been treated to a perfect spring day, but showers are on the way.

Perth has enjoyed a perfect spring day, but city-dwellers will have to endure some rain as a front moves through.

The sun was shining on our city today as the mercury topped 25.7C at 1.45pm.

Bullsbrook and Perth Airport were Wednesday’s hotspots, reaching 26.5C.

A wet weather system is moving over the South West at the moment bringing decent rain in the south and more showers are forecast for Friday evening as a front crosses.

Our southern suburbs could get showers tonight and Thursday is looking wet - up to 15mm of rain is possible to go with a top of 18C.

“After some glorious spring sunshine, a thick cloud band with plenty of rain is developing over south-western parts of WA,” BOM said Wednesday.

“Widespread rainfall totals of 15 to 30mm are expected south-west of Jurien Bay to Hopetoun by Thursday evening.”

Further showers are possible on Friday and Saturday before the sun is back out, although it will be cold start to the week.

It comes after Perth enjoyed its hottest day in months.

The mercury hit 28.4C in the city just before 1pm on Tuesday, making it Perth’s warmest day since April 28, when the temperature reached 29.7C.

And if you thought it felt warmer than normal for this time of year you’d be right — the average maximum temperature for September is 20.5C.

The amazing weather follows a string of sunny days with 21C on Father’s Day and 25C Monday.
