A Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said the showers would likely continue overnight into Saturday for most of the South West land division, including Perth, with the chance of thunderstorms in the metropolitan area.

The rainband developing through the Southern Gascoyne region will thicken overnight and extend through northern parts of the division’s agricultural areas, providing farmers with a much-needed deluge of 10-20mm, with some areas potentially reaching 40mm.

The rains are expected to stay away from the metropolitan area from Sunday onwards with a slight warming across the metropolitan area and a sunny day forecast for Tuesday.

However, another cold front is predicted to hit come Wednesday and Thursday.

A BOM climate outlook released today said parts of WA were likely to record above average rainfall over August to October.

Daytime temperatures for the next two weeks July 20 to August 2 are likely to be warmer than average for most areas, with temperatures across much of central WA expected to be 2-4C warmer than usual.
