Streaming platform Disney+ has been struck by a global outage.

Australian users first started reporting issues on Thursday night but problems spiked on DownDetector on Friday morning.

Of the problems reported, 49 per cent have been related to login errors, 36 per cent related to the app, and eight per cent server connection.

It appears that the problem is impacting subscribers worldwide, including those in the US.

As of 10am, more than 52,000 users had reported problems accessing Disney+, according to US outlet GV Wire.

The streaming platform’s official support account has acknowledged the outage on X.

“We’re sorry to hear about this experience. Our team is already aware of the instability that’s occurring and is working to fix it as soon as possible,” a spokesperson wrote.

In another reply to a user’s complaint, they wrote, “We’re aware of it and working to resolve it as quickly as possible!”

Subscribers of Disney+ are missing out on major live sporting events hosted by the platform, including a Major League Baseball game underway between the Yankees and White Sox, which has been interrupted.

The outage comes the day before Toy Story 5 is set to be released in cinemas across the country.

All four films of the franchise are available on the streaming platform.

Many social media users have said online that they intended to re-watch all of the animated films before seeing the new one.

Toy Story 5 picks up about three years after the events of the previous film, in which most of the gang have found a new home with a girl named Bonnie, who loves nothing more than to play.

It follows the gang of toys including Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Jessie as they face-off against a tablet, LilyPad.

The film has gained traction online after it was announced that Taylor Swift had penned a song for the release, I Knew It, I Knew You.

In a statement to The Nightly, Disney+ said they were aware of the issue.

“The team has identified an issue that affected login for some users,” a spokesperson said.

“The issue is resolving and users should soon be able to log back in. We apologise for the inconvenience.”

Disney+ subscribers vented their frustrations about the outage on social media.

“Okay good. So it’s not a me problem but bad cause damn this is inconvenient,” shared one person.

“Only subscribed 24hrs ago so this is a crap start,” wrote another from Manchester, UK.

“We were in a middle of watching hopper! It was getting good!!!” said a frustrated subscriber.

“I just wanted to watch my fall asleep show,” another wrote.

One X user wrote that they “almost broke the computer” when they couldn’t access the platform.

“Feel free to shave a lil sum’n off that next months bill for the inconvenience,” added another.

A disappointed subscriber impacted by the outage wrote that the “app couldn’t be worse”.

“I was wanting to continue my ER binge but now I can’t. Thanks,” shared one person.

It is unclear when the outage will be resolved for Australian users of the platform.
